Marvin Sweeney has distinguished himself as a Jewish professor at a Christian seminary, as a leader in the interpretation of the Hebrew Bible, and as a gifted teacher and mentor. Marvin Sweeney is a contemporary Philo, deeply immersed in Judaism and unflinchingly committed to a pluralistic society, which extends even to his marriage to Muna, a Muslim. For nearly all of his career, he has taught at a Protestant theological school, which has evolved into a school also for Jews, Muslims, and others. Marvin represents an admirable combination of religious commitment and a humanistic openness. |
